Rocktop Academy’s academic program is powered by Brightspire Virtual School, a Cognia-accredited and NCAA-approved private virtual school for grades 6 through 12. Every credit earned at Rocktop is recognized, transferable, and built on a legitimate academic foundation.

Rocktop offers standard enrollment, summer school, credit recovery, enrichment, and dual enrollment through DeVry University for students ready to earn college credit early. SAT and ACT preparation is also available, giving students every tool needed to compete for the opportunities ahead. Brightspire’s course catalog spans hundreds of courses including core subjects, world languages, STEAM, honors, and Advanced Placement — supporting students across diverse backgrounds and goals.

As Rocktop grows toward full institutional recognition and the launch of Rocktop Academy diplomas in 2027, the standard remains the same. Rigorous. Accredited. Built for what comes next.

Rocktop Academy operates on a model built around two things at once – online coursework paired with in-person structure, accountability, and community. It’s built this way on purpose, because the students we serve need both.

The online piece gives students the flexibility to learn at their own pace, on their own schedule, without being confined to a classroom that doesn’t fit their life. The in-person piece gives them something just as important – real expectations, real relationships, and an environment where progress gets monitored, accountability gets maintained, and no student falls through the cracks.

Together, these two elements create an experience that bends around each student’s life without lowering the bar for what they’re expected to achieve. For student-athletes managing training and travel. For students who need a different pace or a different environment. For anyone who has outgrown what a traditional schedule can offer. This isn’t a compromise. It’s the point.

A fully online extension of Rocktop Academy, built for students nationally and internationally in grades 6-12 who need flexibility without sacrificing structure. Rocktop Academy Anywhere delivers the same three-pathway model – academic, athletic, and personal development – wherever a student calls home.

Every student completes the Personal Development Program (PDP), the core of the Rocktop experience, adapted for online learning. Full-time students take 4 to 6 core classes, with electives suggested but not required. Since PDP is a non-negotiable part of every student’s experience, any elective outside the PDP program is taken in addition to a PDP class, not in place of one.

Rocktop Academy offers full-time and flexible enrollment options across both the New Jersey campus and Rocktop Academy Anywhere, following the same curriculum regardless of format. Full-time students take 4 to 6 core courses across Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies, with electives available but not required.

Students who only need a specific class, to meet a graduation requirement or recover credit, can enroll on a single-course basis. Summer school is also available through Rocktop Academy Anywhere for students looking to get ahead or catch up outside the regular calendar.

At Rocktop Academy, students are expected to meet the following standards throughout their enrollment.

GPA Requirements
Students must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA to remain in good standing. Students who achieve a 3.0 or above will be recognized on the Rocktop Academy Honor Roll.

Grading Scale
Rocktop Academy uses a standard 100-point grading scale, converted to letter grades and a 4.0 GPA (A = 90–100, B = 80–89, C = 70–79, D = 60–69, F = below 60).

Academic Integrity
All work submitted must be the student’s own. Plagiarism, unauthorized assistance, and misuse of AI tools are not permitted and may result in disciplinary review.

Retake Policy
Students who score below a 70% on any test or assignment may retake or resubmit for a higher grade, with the improved grade replacing the original. This policy rewards improvement while maintaining accountability.

Credit Hours
A full credit (1.0) requires 120 instructional hours. A half credit (0.5) requires 60 instructional hours. Every course a student enrolls in counts toward their required pace based on this standard.

Pace & Progress
Students are expected to stay on pace toward completing their required instructional hours and days each year. Falling behind pace is treated the same as falling behind academically, and may affect standing.

Attendance
Rocktop Academy (NJ): Students are required to attend in-person classroom instruction for a minimum of 51% of total instructional hours at the Rocktop Academy facility. Remaining instruction is accessible virtually to support flexibility without compromising academic consistency.

Rocktop Academy Anywhere: Students are expected to attend a minimum number of scheduled virtual instructional sessions each week, along with completing self-paced coursework on schedule. Consistent, on-time participation is required to remain in good standing.

Conduct
Students are expected to arrive on time and prepared for every session. Respectful communication with instructors and peers is required at all times. Absences should be reported in advance whenever possible.

Commitment
Students are expected to give full effort to their academic responsibilities. Falling below academic standards may result in probation or affect enrollment status.

Rocktop Academy New Jersey

Rocktop Academy’s New Jersey campus runs September 1 through April 30.

Students begin with enrollment processing, placement assessments, and a full orientation to the campus’s expectations and student-athlete protocols. From there, core academic coursework is delivered through a combination of on-site instruction and structured online learning, offered Monday through Saturday to fit around training schedules. Alongside academics, students complete a personal development curriculum covering leadership, financial literacy, and college and career readiness.

A minimum of 51% of total instructional hours are completed in person at the Rocktop Academy facility.

Rocktop Academy Anywhere

Rocktop Academy Anywhere operates on rolling enrollment, and students move through coursework at their own pace. There is no fixed daily schedule – students complete lessons and assignments on whatever timeline fits their training, travel, or personal life. To stay on track for the school year, students are expected to complete a minimum of 900 instructional hours across at least 180 days, consistent with standard private school benchmarks nationwide. Progress is tracked throughout the year to ensure every student meets this requirement by year’s end.

Credit is granted through Rocktop Academy Anywhere. Students using summer coursework toward another school’s requirements should confirm credit approval with that school’s district.
