Rocktop Academy’s academic program is powered by Brightspire Virtual School, a Cognia-accredited and NCAA-approved private virtual school for grades 6 through 12. Every credit earned at Rocktop is recognized, transferable, and built on a legitimate academic foundation.

Rocktop offers standard enrollment, summer school, credit recovery, enrichment, and dual enrollment through DeVry University for students ready to earn college credit early. SAT and ACT preparation is also available, giving students every tool needed to compete for the opportunities ahead. Brightspire’s course catalog spans hundreds of courses including core subjects, world languages, STEAM, honors, and Advanced Placement — supporting students across diverse backgrounds and goals.

As Rocktop grows toward full institutional recognition and the launch of Rocktop Academy diplomas in 2027, the standard remains the same. Rigorous. Accredited. Built for what comes next.

Rocktop Academy operates on a hybrid academic model — online coursework paired with in-person structure, accountability, and community. It is built this way intentionally, because the students we serve require both.

The online component gives students the flexibility to learn at their own pace, on their own schedule, without being confined to a classroom that does not fit their life. The in-person component gives them something equally important — real expectations, real relationships, and a real environment where progress is monitored, accountability is maintained, and no student is allowed to fall through the cracks.

Together, these two elements create an academic experience that bends around each student’s life without lowering the bar for what they are expected to achieve. For student-athletes managing training and travel. For students who need a different pace or a different environment. For anyone who has outgrown what a traditional schedule can offer. The hybrid model is not a compromise — it is the point.

Rocktop Academy operates on a 180-day academic calendar running September 1 through March 15. The program is divided into three phases designed to build academic foundation, develop core competencies, and prepare students for life beyond the classroom.

Phase 1 — Orientation & Onboarding September 1 – September 20

Students complete enrollment processing, academic placement assessments, and a full orientation to Rocktop Academy’s hybrid learning model, expectations, and student-athlete protocols. This phase establishes the foundation for a productive and structured academic experience.

Phase 2 — Core Coursework September 21 – January 25 (18 Weeks)

All required core academic courses are delivered during this intensive 18-week period through a combination of on-site instructional sessions and a structured online curriculum. A minimum of 51% of total instructional hours are completed in person at the Rocktop Academy facility. Courses are offered Monday through Saturday in morning, afternoon, and evening sessions to accommodate student-athlete training schedules.

Phase 3 — Personal Development & Program Completion January 26 – March 15

Students conclude the program with a focused personal development curriculum covering leadership, financial literacy, career and college readiness, and athletic development. This phase provides individualized attention and ensures every student meets graduation requirements prior to the March 15 program close.
